The Hellenic Riding Club is the oldest equestrian sports club in Greece (founded in 1931), with the aim of promoting the sport and fostering the spirit of horsemanship.
In 1931, at a time when a group of members of Athenian society, together with several Cavalry officers, conceived and founded the Club in Cholargos, equestrianism was a limited activity, involving primarily the armed forces, and the sport was essentially unknown to the general public.
In the post-war period, during the 1950s, the Hellenic Riding Club, by then established in Paradeisos, Marousi, became the only institution open to the public for the development of the sport and subsequently served as a major driving force behind its growth. Thanks to the efforts of the members, instructors, athletes, and all those who worked at the Club, solid foundations were laid for the development of the sport. In fact, it was here that the charter of the Hellenic Equestrian Federation was signed in 1990 by the twelve member clubs of that time.
Several members of today’s large equestrian family, both athletes and officials, who began their journey at the Hellenic Riding Club, continue to distinguish themselves and contribute to the sport both in Greece and internationally.
This venue has hosted beloved and unforgettable horses, friendly competitions, interclub and national events, championships, equestrian games such as the legendary ring-tilting with sabre (tent pegging), as well as Sunday lunches on the terrace, dances, and celebrations, always with strong public participation.
